Summer was on its way

Yesterday we opened - finally - the barbecue season. The weather and the company were splendid and we had loads of yammy things to eat.

The favorite of the day proved out to be burger, that was built with ground beef paddies made after our own recipe, cheddar cheese, red onion rings, mayo, tomato, iceberg lettuce, grilled pineapple, hamburger dressing and toasted (very important!) bun. As a side dish we had rosemary potatoes. Yammy!

Avasimme eilen - yleisön pyynnöstä - grillikauden. Sää sekä seura olivat mitä mainioimmat ja herkkuja oli riittävästi.

Päivän suosikiksi muodostui burgeri, joka kasattiin omalla reseptillä grillatuista naudanlihapihveistä, cheddarjuustosta, punasipulirenkaista, majoneesista, tomaatista, jäävuorisalaatista, grillatusta ananaksesta, hampurilaiskastikkeesta ja paahdetusta (erittäin tärkeää!) sämpylästä. Lisäkkeenä rosmariiniperunoita. Nam!

The earth here has been recently disturbed

The death of our little animal friend Esko-the-Bunny touched us, even tough we were just his foster carers. A little bit of comfort comes from the knowledge that Esko left doing the very things he loved the most - having just eaten and jumping around in his home - and at the last moment the most important person was on his side, stroking him gently.

Pienen eläinystävämme Esko-pupun kuolema kosketti myös meitä sijaishoitajia.  Lohtua suruun tuo ajatus siitä, että Esko lähti tehden sitä, mistä oli aina pitänyt eniten - juuri syötyään ja kotilattialla pylkkien - ja viimeisillä hetkillä oli paras silittäjä vierellä.

Will you heat some up in a saucepan?

In the opposite appartment building, in two different flats, you could see the whole circle of life. Two ways of spenging the Friday night..

A young woman, in front of the mirror, spraying hairsprey, all dressed up. A young man, also dressed up, comes up to her and kisses her on the neck.  Moments later lights are turned down in the appartment.

Old man, alone, in long underpants and a long sleeved undershirt, settles in front of the tv.

Vastapäisessä kerrostalossa, kahdessa eri asunnossa, oli näkyvillä koko elämän kierto. Kaksi tapaa viettää perjantai-ilta..

Nuori nainen, peilin edessä, lakkaa hiuksiaan, kauniissa mekossa. Nuori mies, tyylikkäänä, tulee naisen luo ja suutelee hänen kaulaansa. Hetken päästä valot sammuvat asunnosta.

Vanha mies, yksin, pitkissä kalsareissa ja aluspaidassa, asettuu television ääreen.
