That statement is too sweeping

A woman in her seventies:

"When one looks at these women and men here in the pool, one would never guess, how decrepit we all are there, on the dry land."
 ------

Woman: "I have such a wonderful man. He even cuts my toe nails and paints them, because I can't myself."

For ever. With you.

He gave me a nickname, by whitch he will call me - with all his love - in future, when I will only have a small bunch of hair and one tooth left:

"Bald-Doofus".

A few days off

In the swimming hall, which had opened again after a summer break. An old lady talks to an equally old man.

Woman says later to her lady friend: “It’s always so nice to see these old ones, who come here regularly. You know then, that they have survived.”

Uimahallissa, sen auettua taas kesätauon jälkeen. Vanha nainen keskustelee vanhan miehen kanssa.

Nainen sanoo myöhemmin naisystävälleen: "Se on aina niin kiva nähdä näitä vanhoja, jotka käyvät täällä vakituisesti. Tietää, että ne ovat selvinneet tauon yli."

Mr Meldrew: "I don't believe these letters. Listen to this one. "'Dear Aunty Lucy, although we both are over seventy my husband and I still enjoy normal relations every Saturday night with the help of painkillers. My husband is a little confuced as to subject of contraception and always keeps his cap on as a precaution."

Yes, there is a resemblance

A sweet, very old lady asked directions to a nearby cafe.

She said "I have to have some coffee, because my coffee tooth aches so" with a broad smile.

And simultaneously we both thought (with all respect and love): "Which one of those three teeth is she referring to?"

From the reality of the aging women..

Elementary, my dear Watson

This morning there was no room in his mind for morbid thoughts about these juvenile pluguglies

Raymond: "Oh well, I suppose we were all young once.
Patricia: "Not you Raymond. You were born middle-aged."

Raymond: "Kind of you to say so, Patricia. I've always attempted to maintain a mature outlook, but I can not deny there've been lapses. I once possessed a whoopee cushion. I never deployed it, of course, but the capacity was there."

Voluptuous

I, as a woman myself, truly think that a woman’s figure is very beautiful. I’m not surprised that men (and some women) are fascinated by it.

I love the way you can see all the marks of the lived life on women. That is why I think older women are lovely – with all their curves and flesh they seem so comfortable in their skin. I wish all women could feel that way.

The beginning and the end

In drama studies there is a theory called the world of possibilities. The world of possibilities reflects the way dramatic text is constructed: every chosen path to carry the story forwards opens certain views, but closes others.

Life is constructed in similar fashion. Every decision, choice or action takes us to some direction. At the same time some possibilities vanish and some doors close. Sometimes the closing can be sad thing (like when encountering death or end of an relationship), but in the other hand they might be beginning of the new.

Now, as my birthday is getting nearer, I ponder about my own life and its world of possibilities. Even though certain doors for me have closed, I’ve been fortunate enough to have new doors open up to me, which have brought new happiness and joy and meaning in my life. Right now so many doors in my life remain open. Thankfully I’m in no hurry choosing between them.

-------------
Draamantutkimuksessa on käytössä teoria nimeltä mahdollisuuksien maailma.

Quite, quite.

Is it a sign of getting older, that one prefers to sit in the front of a bus/tram (near the safety of the driver) instead the back (away from the authorities)? I think so..
