That is all we need.

My reward for sitting in on the scheme

My co-worker, who happens to have doctorate in public administration, mentioned on our coffee break, that he has always dreamed of working in an ad agency. The reason for this is the fact that he has many great ideas for commercials..

"A group of people waits for the elevator. One of them has a shopping bag, from where a bottle of Tabasco peaks out. After seeing this, one of the people waiting refuses to enter the elevator, but instead chooses to walk the stairs. When he arrives to his floor he finds an elevator full of wet people, because the Tabasco has set the elevators sprinklers of. With a knowing look on his face he shakes his head to the person, who was carrying the Tabasco."

Maybe it's better, that he sticks with his current job..

Työtoverini, joka sattuu koulutukseltaan olemaan hallintotieteiden tohtori, mainitsi kahvitauolla, että on aina haaveillut olevansa mainostoimistossa töissä. Hän perusteli tätä sillä, että hänellä on hyviä ideoita mainoksia varten..

"Joukko ihmisiä seisoo odottamassa hissiä. Eräällä heistä on ostoskassi, josta pilkottaa Tabasco-pullo. Tämän nähtyään eräs odottajista kieltäytyy menemästä hissiin, vaan sen sijaan lähtee kiipeämään portaita. Perillä ylhäällä hän kohtaa hissillisen märkiä ihmisiä, sillä Tabasco on laukaissut hissin spriklerit. Tetäväisenä hän pudistaa päätään Tabascoa kantaneelle."

Ehkä on parempi, että hän jatkaa nykyisessä työssään..

Right about now life tastes pretty sweet..

We've booked our trip to Paris in October - this time we are also going to pop to Mediterranian, to Marseille (Bean wanted to taste - inspired by Rick Stein's French Odyssey - real bouillabaisse, so TGV will whisk us there, 660 kilometers in only three hours). We've decided on our menu next weekend - it's fantastic to get to try new ingridients, methods of cooking and familiar tastes from France. This week we're going to get some new Bottna dishes, a sauce boat from Kokkipuoti and new dessert dishes - our collection of dishes keeps on growing.

On Thursday we are having a joint holiday & working from home day - coming up: a romantic lunch at home. Dvd is playing the first series of Mad Men - it's always fun to watch a period piece that is made meticulously. Kitchen renovation is in the horizon of these two little chefs - even though our kitchen was done only few years ago, it's style does not suit us or the period of our building and further more, in usability leaves a lot be desired for - so coming up 1950's inspired looks, induction cooker, convection oven and diswasher and storage space to all our dishes & cooking tools & equipment.

Lokakuun Pariisin matka on buukattu - tällä kertaa piipahdamme myös Välimeren rannalla Marseillessa (Papu halusi maistaa - Rick Stein'in Ranskan makumatka tv-sarjan inspiroimana - aitoa bouillabaissea, joten TGV kiidättää meidät kolmessa tunnissa 660 kilometrin päähän). Viikonlopun menu on päätetty - ihana päästä kokeilemaan uusia raaka-aineita, valmistustapoja ja Ranskasta tuttuja makuja. Tällä viikolla haemme lisää Bottna-astioita, kastikekulhon Kokkipuodista ja ostamme uudet jälkiruoka-astiat - astiakokoelmamme senkun karttuu.

Torstaina vietämme vapaapäivän & etätyöpäivän yhdistelmää kotona - tiedossa romanttinen lounas oman ruokapöydän ääressä. Dvd:ssä pyörii Mad Men'in ensimmäinen tuotantokausi - pieteetillä toteutettua ajankuvaa on aina nasta katsoa. Keittiöremontti siintää kahden pikkukokin haaveissa - vaikka keittiömme on vain muutama vuosi sitten remontoitu, se ei vastaa tyyliltään meitä, eikä asuintalomme aikakauden henkeä tai käytettävyydeltään tarpeitamme - tulossa on siis 1950-luvun inspiroimaa ulkonäköä, induktioliesi, kiertoilmauuni ja tiskikone sekä säilytystilaa kaikille astioille & kokkaamisessa tarvittaville välineille & laitteille.

A certain critic

For years my Bean had dreamed that some day he would walk The Way of St. James. That is why we were really interested to watch this program of Finnish pilgramist completing The Way of St. James on Yle Teema.

And instantly the dream died. We could hardly see anything spirutual there, just some people having a sort of extensive jog, with their expensive trainers and Nordic walking poles. People walking that route had no time to take in the beauty that surrouded them. They did not seem to have time to stop and appreciate life and those little moments it consists of. They did not seem to have time to appreciate the fact how lucky they were, to be there or even to be able to walk in the first place.

The program made us both really sad.

We decided that our walk will be quite different. It will be a journey into ourselves. Our walk will be about the moment, of life and our love. There will be no masses of people or trumpets in the end. Just the knowledge that we have arrived.

Vuosia Papuni oli unelmoinut joskus vaeltavansa Pyhän Jaakon vaellusreitin. Siksi asetuimmekin innolla katsomaan ohjelmaa suomalaisista, jotka päättävät vaelluksensa tuolla reitillä Yle Teemalta.

Ja samalla hetkellä tuo unelma kuoli. Emme nähneet viitteitä hengellisyydestä, vain ihmisiä pitkähköllä lenkillä, kalliine lenkkareineen ja sauvakävelijän sauvoineen. Reitin kävelijöillä ei ollut aikaa nauttia heitä ympäröivästä kauneudesta. Heillä ei näyttänyt olevan aikaa pysähtyä nauttimaan elämästä ja niistä pienistä hetkistä, joista se koostuu. Heillä ei näyttänyt olevan aikaa pysähtyä arvostamaan sitä seikkaa, että he ovat onnekkaita, koska saavat kävellä tuon reitin, tai kävellä ylipäätään.

Ohjelma teki meidät todella surullisiksi.

Me päätimme, että meidän kävelymme tulee olemaan erilainen. Se tulee olemaan matka itseemme, matka rakkauteemme ja hetkeen. Matkallamme ei tule olemaan laumoittain ihmisiä tai toitottavia torvia lopussa. Vain tieto siitä, että olemme saapuneet perille.
