And then we got talking and something

Two men, alcoholics, in their forties.  Acquaintances.

Man 1: "You can come over, if you want to. I have food in the fridge: there's milk and bread. But my streo is a piece of crap - I only have the radio. There's also the tv, you can stare at it, but I won't watch that shit! But I warn you: one wrong movement and I'll hit a nail into your head!

Man 2 (slightly amused): "I'll come over, if you don't kill me."
----

You want to know how it all ended?

Five minutes on French soil and I had already showed my bits to a international group of women - thanks to broken lock and anguished Japanese woman..
-----
Viisi minuuttia Ranskan maaperällä, ja olin jo esitellyt 'tavarani' kansainväliselle joukolle naisia - kiitos rikkinäisen  lukon ja hätäisen japanilaisnaisen..

He had seen something that brought the roses back to his cheeks

In Paris, on Rue Vivienne (75002) near the stock exchange (that is bourse in French), is a bistro called La Bourse ou La Vie (Your Money or Your Life), which decor could be described by calling it 'a drunkards nightmare'. The bistro is owned by former architect, Patrice Porte (pictured in the white shirt), who seems to be threre always, larger than life - enjoying his wines - chatting up regulars and shaking hands & kissing everybody else.

But there is unbeatable attraction: pavé au poivre avec frites -  that is pepper steak with fries. Our steaks were à point (medium), - tender and juicy. The fries tasted delicious (they are fried in suet), but the real catch of the dish is the pepper cover on the steak - the amount of pepper gives an intoxicating feeling - and the peppery cream sauce. This pleasure leaves a permanent memory..
---------
Pariissa, Rue Viviennellä (75002) lähellä pörssiä (bourse ranskaksi), on bistro nimeltään La Bourse ou La Vie (Rahat tai henki), jonka sisustusta voisi kuvailla sanoilla 'humalaisen painajainen'.

Pihvimme olivat à point (mediumeja), - mureita ja mehukkaita. Ranskalaiset maistuvat herkullisilta (ne on paistettu eläinrasvassa), mutta koko ruuan kruunaa pihvin pippurikuorrutus - pippurin määrä tuntuu humalluttavalta kokemukselta - ja kermainen pippurikastike. Tämä nautinto jättää pysyvän muiston..

In a lump sum?

When a Finn asks another Finn about their vacation, they start with the most important fact, which is:

"How was the weather like?"

I mean, consider the facts

"These days it seems people will do almost anything to get on television. Stand behind news reporters mouthing: 'Hello mum'. Deliberately buy yoghurt past by it sell-by date, so they can complain to Ann Robinson. Or video their pets being knocked unconscious by garden swings, in the hope the producer of You've been framed will believe it to be spontanious. Fame is the spur. But fame, as we shall see, is like oven-ready frozen meal for one: not as nice as it looks."
