The many reasons why people decide to commit to each other legally are very interesting. The most cynic reason could be to collect money and gifts from relatives and friends. Others commit because “that is something one is supposed to do”. Sometimes the relationship is in crises and to avoid break-up people commit to each other even tighter (or that it might seem). Sometimes couple might have been together for a long time and for that they feel pressure to commit (to show that the relationship is going somewhere?). Sometimes people commit because their friends have done so. Sometimes the couple is pressured by relatives to commit. Sometimes the reasons behind commitment are financial or juridical. And sometimes, thankfully more often then not, the reason to commit is genuine desire to love ones partner and share ones life with them.-------------------
On mielenkiintoista, miten moninaisista syistä ihmiset sitoutuvat toisiinsa lainvoimaisesti. Syynä voi olla kyynisimmillään rahan ja lahjojen kerääminen sukulaisilta ja tuttavilta. Toiset sitoutuvat, koska "niin nyt kuuluu tehdä". Joskus parisuhde on kriisissä, jolloin ero pyritään torjumaan sitoutumalla toiseen, ainakin näennäisesti tiukemmin. Sitoutumisen syynä voi olla myös parisuhteen pitkä kesto, joka aiheuttaa paineita parille ulkoapäin sitoutumiseen. Joskus sitoudutaan, koska ystäväpiirissä muutkin ovat niin tehneet. Joskus sukulaiset painostavat paria sitoutumaan. Joskus taustalla ovat taloudelliset tai juridiset syyt. Ja joskus, onneksi aika usein, sitoutumisen taustalla on aito halu rakastaa kumppania ja jakaa elämä tämän kanssa.
