What are the things you hide or lie about and why?Of course there are certain things you probably should not talk about, like your sex life before your current partner. And by this mean every detail, so that you don’t make your partner ill at ease. But you can talk about things, even past sexual relationships, if you find a certain comfort level which both of you accept.
Then there are certain things you definitely should be open and honest about. I guess those are the things that help your partner to understand you and the place you are coming from.
To me, living a very secretive or separate life in a relationship spells trouble. But of course one should have room for private thoughts and feelings, private things, because everyone has them and has to have room for them. Still there are certain things I would never hide from Bean or he would never hide from me. Even if someone would ask us to do so…

On tiettyjä asioita, joista ei välttämättä kannata kumppanille puhua, kuten seksielämästä ennen nykyistä partneriasi. Ja tällä tarkoitan yksityiskohtien kertomista, etteivät kumppanin tunteet tule loukatuksi. Mutta lähes kaikesta pystyy keskustelemaan, jopa seksuaalihistorioista, kunhan keskustelussa löydetään molemmille sopiva avoimuuden aste.
Sitten on tietysti ne asiat, joista ehdottomasti kannattaa puhua avoimesti ja totuudenmukaisesti. Näihin asioihin kuuluvat ainakin ne seikat, jotka auttavat kumppaniasi ymmärtämään sinua ihmisenä, menneisyyttäsi ja taustaasi.
Kun ihmissuhteessa eletään salailevaa tai erillistä elämää, siitä seuraa useimmiten ongelmia. Silti jokaisella tulisi olla tilaa omiin yksityisiin mietteisiin, tunteisiin ja asioihin, sillä meillä kaikilla on niitä ja myös tarve niihin.
