Our trip to Lisbon is getting nearer and nearer. This time we'll also be tour operators for two, lovely young ladies - it will be interesting to share our travel philopsophy with others.

In any case we've planned various activities and knowing us there will be plenty of feasting on local foods and wine ;) We can hardly wait..

Our bedroom has a new decor: wallpaper, paint and white lacquer, new furniture, new curtain rod, new mattress & pad. Curtains were dry-cleaned, windows & floor were thoroughly scrubbed and in the closet there are new Elfa’s.

Because our apartment block was build in the 1950’s, in our choice of wallpaper we decided upon that periods design, which we found in Tapettitalo. Poikilo, Lisa Johanson-Pape’s graphic design was very pleasing to both of us – it’s colour and styling – so the choice was easy to make. Above our Vienna-Pig (we have another, identical pig from Paris:)) is marvelling at the new wallpaper.

Makuuhuoneemme on saanut uuden ilmeen: tapettia, maalia ja valkolakkaa, uudet kalusteet, uusi verhotanko, uusi patja& petauspatja. Verhot on pesetetty, ikkunat & lattia on huolella pesty ja vaatekaapeissa on uudet Elfat.

Koska kerrostalomme on 1950-luvulta, päädyimme tapettivalinnassa tuon aikakauden malliin, joka löytyi Tapettitalosta. Poikilo, Lisa Johanson-Papen suunnittelema graaffinen tapetti miellytti sekä väriltään, että muotoilultaan meitä molempia, joten valinta oli helppo. Yllä uutta tapettia ihmettelee Wienin-Possumme (meillä on toinen, identtinen possu Pariisista:)).

Sometimes not so bright

"Seventy-seven, isn't that amazing. Old people are wonderful when they have so much life, aren´t they? Gives us all hope, doesn't it? My mother on the other hand is a little bit of a trial, really. You know, it's alright when they have the life force, but mother, well, she's got more of a death force, really. She's a worrier. She has these, well, morbid fears they are, really. Vans is one. Rats, doorknobs, birds, heights, open spaces, confined spaces. It's very diffucult getting the space right for, really. Footballs, bicycles, cows. And she is always on about men following her. I don't know what she thinks they are going to do to her. Vomit on her, Basil says. And death. She's frightened of death. I told her there is nothing she can do about it, on about it the full time, she is. I mean, nature can only take its course. Only thing you can hope for is that won't be long, drawn out and painful. But she can't accept that."

It was a pippin

The collector of stencil art looks at the world through collector’s eyes. One can find a new pieces anywhere, so vigilance must be exercised. Every "find" brings the rush of excitement - just like to every collector.

And like with art in general, some of the stencil works are great, some not so great. Often they are funny, opinionated, political, erotic or just current. A marvellous stencil gets the spectator to think, admire the technical skills of the artist and inspires..for example to blog..

Sapluunataiteen keräilijä katselee maailmaa keräilijän silmin. Mistä tahansa saattaa löytää uuden teoksen, joten valppaana on oltava. Jokainen "löytö" tuo tullessaan innostuksen ryöpyn - aivan kuten keräilijöille muutenkin.

Ja kuten on laita taiteen kanssa yleensäkin, joskus teokset ovat onnistuneita, joskus vähemmän onnistuneita. Usein ne ovat hauskoja, ottavat kantaa, ovat poliittisia, eroottisia tai ajankohtaisia. Hieno sapluunateos saa katsojan miettimään, ihastelemaan sen tekijän teknisiä taitoja ja inspiroi..vaikka bloggaamaan..

We have gained a new member to our family: Carmona microphylla also referred as Fukien Tea Tree. A few years ago Bean had to give up his bonsai tree, so it was about time to get a replacement. Even though Carmona has a reputation of being a malsai, it is none the less dear to us and has opened the fascinating world of bonsai growing to us little green fingers..

Olemme saaneet uuden perheenjäsenen: Carmona microphyllan, jota kutsutaan myös nimellä Fukien Tea Tree. Muutama vuosi sitten Papu joutui luopumaan omasta bonsai -puustaan, joten oli jo aikakin hankkia uusi menetetyn tilalle. Vaikka Carmonalla onkin malsain leima, on se meille yhtäkaikki rakas ja sen avulla on tällaisille pikku viherpeukaloille avautunut bonsain kasvatuksen ihmeellinen maailma..
