The sheltering sky

Underneath the sheltering sky and above the roofs of Helsinki we enjoyed
the company of
Harvey Wallbanger, in the Ateljee Bars candle light..
------
Suojaavan taivaan alla ja Helsingin kattojen yllä me nautimme
Harvey Wallbangerin seurasta, Ateljee Barin kynttilän valossa..

Passing time

The time passes ever so slowly for the convalescing.
Lying on the bed and lying on the sofa.
Reading and watching series/movies on DVD.
Waiting for the appetite to return.
Couchging, fever, runny nose and sweating.
Feeling cold.

The mind of the partner is filled with worry.
Is the one convalescing getting worse or finally better?
How are they feeling?
Would they manage to nibble, even a tiny bit?
Is the medication working?
Staying up, food service, stroking & cuddling, comforting words.
Accompanying when going to the doctor.

Toipilaan aika kuluu tahmean hitaasti.
Pötköttelyä sängyssä ja pötköttelyä sohvalla.
Lukemista ja sarjojen/leffojen katselua dv:ltä.
Ruokahalun paluun odotusta.
Yskimistä, kuumetta, nuhaa ja hikoilua.
Välillä paleltaa.

Toipilaan kumppanin mielen täyttää huoli.
Voiko toipilas huonommin vai vihdoin paremmin?
Miltä tuntuu?
Maistuisiko edes jokin pieni?
Tehoavatko lääkkeet?
Valvomista, ruokahuoltoa, silitystä & haleja, lohduttavia sanoja.
Lääkäriin mukaan seuraksi.

As time goes by

It's great fun to celebrate the life's special occasions, your own as well as those of your closest ones.
It's nice to make plans and celebrate the occasion in the way that the celebrated wants to.

One needs to enjoy life to it's fullest, because it is just so short spurt anyway.

Every annual ring that we gather to our lives or to our relationships is unique.
Remember to appreciate it, branches and all.

Explanation to us all

James (Jim) Hacker: "I know exactly who reads the papers.
The Daily Mail is read by people who think they run the country.
The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country.

The Times is read by people who actually do run the country.

The Daily Mirror is read by the wives of the people who run the country.

The Financial Times is read by people who own the country.

The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country.

The Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is."

Sir Humphrey Appleby
: "Prime Minister, what about people who read the Sun?"
Bernard
Woolley: "Sun readers don't care who runs the country as long as she's got big tits."

Lip-lock

Between two people, there either is that chemistry when kissing for the first time or there isn't.
And if there is, after that experience one can not or does not want to go back to the time with out that
chemistry ..One can not accept bad kissing anymore.

Quote of the day

From this William Shakespeare's sonet XVIII comes the tittle to our loved tv-series The Darling Buds of May:

Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

Promises, promises

We were talking on New Year’s Eve with my colleagues about New Year's resolutions. Many had good ones: to stop smoking, to go to bed earlier and so forth.

I promised to be kinder next year. To this one of my colleagues said, that is that even possible? But I think one can always try to be kinder towards their closest ones…
