Sometimes, unfortunately for some, pictures tell more then a thousand words. Pictures taken of people reveal information about the power balance between them, about their chemistry and things they appreciate.The way people are/interact with each other, where their focus their gaze and attention, how they touch each other, what is in the centre of the photo, it all reveals information on the relationships between them.More often then not, these things are revealed involuntarily, because it is difficult to lie with your body language.
Years ago my friends and me analyzed a wedding photo. The idea of the picture was based on the fact that the woman’s figure, dress and flowers were in the most flattering position possible. The man and the woman faced each other, but stood miles apart and in an angle. The woman’s hand lay on the shoulder of the man, like a queens sword on her subordinate.
The picture conveyed an artificial, uncomfortable atmosphere. The woman’s hand on the shoulder indicated a need to dominate and command. The picture seemed to lack spontaneous, intimate or loving feeling. Everyone can guess, how that story ended.
When choosing pictures to post for example to the Internet, remember this power of photographs.

Joskus, valitettavasti ihmisen itsensä kannalta, kuvat kertovat enemmän kuin tuhat sanaa. Ihmistä otetut kuvat välittävät tietoa heidän välisistä valtasuhteistaan, kemioista ja arvostuksen kohteista.
Se, miten ihmiset ovat/toimivat kuvassa toisiinsa nähden, minne heidän katseensa suuntautuu, miten he koskevat toisiaan, mikä on kuvan keskiössä, se kaikki välittää tietoa ihmisten välisistä suhteista. Usein nämä asiat paljastuvat tahtomatta, sillä kehon kielellä on vaikea valehdella.
Vuosia sitten analysoimme ystävieni kanssa erästä hääkuvaa. Kuvan asemointi perustui sille, että naisen vartalo, puku ja kukat olivat kuvassa mahdollisimman imartelevassa asennossa. Mies ja nainen seisoivat kasvotusten, mutta kaukana toisistaan ja heidän vartalonsa olivat kulmassa toisiinsa nähden. Naisen käsi lepäsi miehen hartialla, ikään kuin kuningattaren miekka alaisensa yllä.
Kuvasta välittyi katsojalle teennäinen, vaivaantunut tunnelma. Naisen käsi hartialla indikoi halua hallita ja määrätä. Kuvasta tuntui puuttuvan spontaani, intiimi tai rakastunut tunnelma. Jokainen voi arvata, miten tarina päättyi.
Kun valitset kuvia, joita laitat esille esim. internettiin, pidä mielessä tämä kuvien voima.
